Review Summary:

Ocean fish meal is a good meat protein source, but this meat ingredient is forth on the list and not higher. Oatmeal, Pearled Barley and Peas are above it, which offer good nutrients but are high in carbohydrates. Not surprisingly, this recipe is relatively high in the estimated carbohydrates, and relatively low in protein. The majority of the vegetables and fruits are really low on the ingredient list, and only Peas and Tomato Pomace are high enough to be significant enough. The minerals are protienate to aid better body absorption. Overall, this recipe is below average.

    Ingredients Analysis

    First 5 Ingredients:

    1. Oatmeal
    2. Pearled Barley
    3. Peas
    4. Ocean Fish Meal
    5. Canola Oil

Oatmeal is ground oat groats, which are high in carbohydrates, and offer protein and fiber too.

Pearl barley is a cereal grain with its hull and bran removed. Despite losing the bran, which is rich in nutrients and fiber, it still provides a good source of fiber from the inner kernel and contains eight out of the ten essential amino acids for dogs. Do note, it is rich in carbohydrates.

Peas are a good source of fiber, protein, and other nutrients too, but note that it does contribute carbohydrates from its starch.

Ocean fish meal is processed fish parts and bones that are grounded down. It provides protein and Omega-3 fatty acids.

Canola oil is low in saturated fat and offers both Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids.  If it matter to you, then please note, it is very likely sourced from genetically modified crops.
