Review Summary:

Wysong’s Epigen canned wet foods are simple. It is basically a simple straight named meat source, such as “Beef” with some added flavoring to boast the appeal. For the Salmon version of this recipe, the Salmon is a good source of healthy Omega-3 Fatty acid too. The meat provides a complete protein with balanced profile of the essential amino acids that a dog needs. The moisture content is relatively low, which translates to buying less water. The amount of protein you get per can is decent as it is on the relatively higher side, but not exceptional. Overall, if you are looking for a meat supplement for protein, then this recipe is a very good candidate. However, if you are in need of additional nutrition, then you need to find another wet recipe.

    Ingredients Analysis

    First 5 Ingredients:

    1. Beef
    2. Water Sufficient for Processing
    3. Natural Flavor
    4. Organic Guar Gum
    5. Mixed Tocopherols.

Beef is a good  source of protein that effectively covers each of the essential amino acids a dog needs, but keep in mind on this ingredient rank list, it factors in the water content, which is roughly about 70% or more water.

    Water

Natural Flavor is flavoring extracted from natural sources and not synthetically conjured, but the specifics of these sources are unknown.

Guar Gum is mainly composed of ground endosperm of guar beans. In dog food it is utilized as a cost effective thickening agent and slash binder for meats.

Mixed Tocopherols are naturally derived compounds from various food sources. These food sources are high in vitamin E and the end Tocopherol derivative itself is very high in Vitamin E too. In dog food its typical main purpose is to act as a preservative.
